BCS Delivering a Robust Bund Repair at a UK Paper Mill
Avantis Group’s BCS division has recently completed a critical repair project at a UK paper mill, ensuring the facility can continue operations safely and efficiently.
The Challenge
The mill’s concrete bund was experiencing chemical leakage, creating a significant risk to both operational continuity and environmental safety. If left unresolved, this issue could have resulted in unplanned plant shutdowns and costly downtime.
The BCS Solution
Our specialist coatings and repair team carried out a full refurbishment of the bund system using advanced protective technologies. The works included:
- Surface preparation: Sweep blasting the existing concrete to create a suitable profile for adhesion.
- Sealing: Application of one coat of RH800 sealer (200 microns) to protect and stabilise the concrete substrate.
- Rebuilding: Installation of a 4 mm RG self-level layer to create a smooth, durable surface.
- Finishing: Application of a 200 microns RC 700TC topcoat for enhanced chemical resistance and long-term durability.
The Outcome
The project was successfully completed on budget and ahead of schedule, providing the client with a fully refurbished, leak-free bund system. This solution not only safeguards plant operations but also supports the site’s wider commitment to environmental responsibility and operational safety.
At Avantis Group, we take pride in delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that protect our clients’ assets while minimising downtime. This project is another example of our ability to combine engineering expertise, high-performance materials, and efficient project execution to support critical infrastructure across industries.
